I am trained in lifespan human development, certified by the International Coaching Federation, and have attained a masters level in clinical hypnotherapy.
After becoming a mother for the first time, I co-founded an organization specializing in parenting education and co-authored Parent Care: Helping Parents Parent. This book is designed to give quick practical help to the blurry-eyed parent.
In the early 1990s, I created the "Women's Weekend Away" after recognizing the need for women to have an annual event to replenish and revitalize for the coming year. Subsequently, I created an ongoing women's support group to sustain and nourish these connections.
Throughout, I have enjoyed public speaking and training. I have been a guest presenter at the World Bank and the National Institutes of Health, and on National Public Radio. For Montgomery County, Maryland, I presented "Careers in Caring", and spoke at several state-wide conferences.
A favorite poet/philosopher, John O'Donohue, captures beautifully the aim of communication.
I believe this passage captures an essential aspect of my work as a Life Coach:
"If the words are presented in the right way and the proper silence is created, then people become implicated in listening to themselves in a way they've never listened before. What I'm trying to do is create a sequence of words... that allow people to overhear themselves."
Throughout our work together, I invite my clients to "overhear" themselves as we navigate the terrain towards their goals and aspirations. Desire fuels the willingness and effort that is required for this worthwhile work. My guidance, nurturing and insistence on accountability sustains the process.
I invite you, as well, to listen to that desire and move towards a life you've always imagined.
