How much time does it take to organize a room or closet?

Being conscious of my client's time and budget, I am cautious in my estimates.  Working with someone for a session or two before I can give an approximate estimate is the best approach.  The amount of time it will take is actually more dependent on how quickly you are able to make decisions, as opposed to the amount of "stuff" that needs organizing. Part of my job is to give you support based on my experiences, "hold your hand" for the tough decisions, and laugh with you when we find the unopened books on "How to Organize"!

Do you work with people who have
ADD/ADHD?

Yes, I have extensive experience working with clients who have varying degrees of ADD/ADHD. In many ways, it is easier to set up organizational systems for this type of situation because we basically know why there is a problem. For this type of work, the
focus needs to be more on maintaining after the initial organizing is completed. This can be done with periodic visits, close together initially and then spread further apart over time.

Do I need to do anything before our first session?

Nothing at all!  Sometimes clients are a little nervous before the first session. Try to become calmer and simply think about how wonderful all the changes will be.

What is Life Coaching?

Life Coaching provides a platform for an individual to gain clarity about what they really want in life by designing a plan and being held accountable for following through on it.

How is Life Coaching different from therapy?

The premise of therapy is diagnosis and treatment.  Coaching examines present and future goals.

How long does it take to achieve my desired results?

Although the length of time varies with each person, an approximate time is three months.

What is ICF?

The International Coaching Federation (ICF) is a non-profit organization that was created in 1995.  It sets standards and provides independent certification for the coaching profession.  The organization is formed by individual members: professional coaches who practice coaching in a wide variety of fields, including life, health or executive coaching.  The ICF also has a research and education component as well.

How do I know if I should try Life Coaching?

If you want to make improvements in your life, feel better about yourself or achieve specific goals, and have been feeling stuck or frustrated in the process, then life coaching is most likely an effective option for you to consider.  It is paramount that your coach is the right fit for you.  Take the time to formulate questions that are important to you.  A professional coach expects you to ask about their training/certification and are always interested in sharing their experiences and approach.

What happens during an intuitive reading?

Depending on how long you would like your session to be, (30, 60 or 90 minutes) decide upon one or more question that you would like to ask.  Reading tarot cards does not predict the future.  However, it points the way and suggests what to be aware of as you make choices and consider possibilities.  Sometimes, before the actual reading, people want my guidance in how to create an effective question.  It is not necessary, however, that I know the question.  It is important, though, that you are able to stay focused on the question during the reading, so I will encourage you to write it down for yourself.  Although I will always define the general meaning of the cards, a few have a range of possibilities.  Therefore, a reading of greater depth and more detail is possible when I have as much information as possible from you.

Are the cards always "right"?

Using the tarot cards for answering a question is in some ways like reading road signs when you are driving.  The sign (or tarot card) is a tool/guide and is essentially neutral.  Just as there may be road work up ahead or a rest stop, your reading may indicate that it is time to step back, rest or reconsider possibilities.  My clients consistently find that the process, overall, of reading tarot cards rings true.  Your tarot reading may seem "magical," or you may have the reaction, "How did the cards know that?"  There is a sense of wonder about this work, but not because there is magic.  It's just that you made a decision to slow down enough to tap into your intuition.  Sometimes that does feel like magic.

How do the cards work?

When you look at the images on the cards with me, you will be able to read them at some level as well.  They depict and represent universal behaviors, feelings and experiences.  By looking at them, you access your intuition and subconscious with greater ease because you connect and relate with those images on many levels.  The answer to your question becomes apparent because we are together able to acknowledge the connection between what we both see in the cards and what you internally sense to be true.

How did you get interested in tarot?

Ironically, I was initially somewhat of a skeptic and came to my interest in tarot strictly from a curiosity about symbols in literature and in other cultures.

As I was getting training and taking classes, teachers would discuss certain aspects of tarot work and I would silently think, "Well, maybe in your world that happens..."  In time, I have found that most of their observations of tarot work were accurate.

Tarot is not for everyone.  Even for those for whom it is a good fit, I generally recommend having no more than one intensive (90 minute) intuitive reading a month.  The ultimate goal of intuitive work is for you to learn how to have a greater sense of ease and confidence accessing your intuition on your own, whenever or wherever you like.

Nurtured Paths does offer an unusual combination of services.   They may appear atypical because we often believe that the changes we want to create can only be achieved by a singular or a specific kind of approach.  Sometimes the best solutions  are more concrete in nature while at other times a more abstract or introspective process is the way to go.  The fluidity of our individual natures and circumstances requires that we be aware of that broad spectrum of choice, and be willing to stick our big toe in the cold water, dive, surface, and come up laughing, knowing that this is what we wanted all along.
